On a shared trip you pay per seat and fish alongside up to five other guests. On a private charter you pay one flat price for the boat no matter how many people you bring, up to six. If you have four or more people, a private charter is almost always the better value: six anglers on the six hour private trip works out to 150 dollars each.

No. Our vessel license covers the saltwater fishing license for every angler on board, so there is nothing for you to buy, print or carry. A few species carry their own permit or tag, snook and tarpon among them. Mention it when you book and Captain Shawn will sort it out.

Morning trips leave at 7:00 AM. Half day trips also run at 12:30 PM on days when the morning is open, and with one boat and six seats those afternoon slots go quickly. Captain Shawn confirms your exact departure time and the dock location when you book.

Six anglers maximum on every trip. That is a United States Coast Guard limit for a six-pack charter and it is also why the fishing is better: six rods fish cleanly, twelve do not.

Yes, and it is one of the things guests mention most in our reviews. Captain Shawn and the mate put kids on fish they can actually reel in. For families with young children we usually suggest the private half day so the pace is yours to set.

None at all. Most of our guests have never fished offshore before. The mate rigs everything, hands you the rod and talks you through the fight.

Sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, soft-soled shoes or sandals, any medication you need, and your own food. We supply water and sodas, all the gear, and a cooler with ice.

Yes. We fillet and bag your catch at the dock before you leave, at no extra cost.

Rain and cold are not reasons to cancel. The wind and the marine forecast are what matter, and Captain Shawn makes that call. If he cancels for weather you are not charged, and your deposit either rolls to another date or comes back to you, whichever you prefer.

Cancel more than seven days before your trip and your deposit is refunded. Inside seven days the deposit is not refundable, because that date is held for you and turning it around at short notice is not realistic.

We would rather you did not. The boat is set up with matched gear for the way we fish, and loose personal rods on a moving deck become a hazard.

Yes, for guests over 21. The captain can end a trip at any point if he decides someone's behavior is no longer safe.

Most people do not, and the ones who do usually forget to prepare. If you are prone to motion sickness, take Dramamine or Meclizine the night before and again an hour before you board, as the label directs. Eat something light beforehand, stay on deck where you can see the horizon, and tell the mate early rather than late.

Fifteen to twenty percent of the trip price is customary for the mate, and cash at the dock is easiest. The mate rigs your gear, untangles your lines, gaffs your fish and cleans your catch, and the tip is how that work gets paid.

It depends on the fish. The reef edge is about a mile off the beach in 60 to 120 feet of water, the wrecks sit in 150 to 400 feet, and on a deep sea fishing trip we may run out to 700 or 1,000 feet where the mahi and the tuna are. Even the longest run is a matter of minutes here, not hours.

Yes, within the law. Florida and federal rules set seasons, size limits and bag limits for every species, and Captain Shawn decides what is legal to keep on the day. Whatever you keep gets filleted and bagged at the dock before you leave.

A party boat, sometimes called a head boat or a drift boat, puts twenty to forty people on the rail and everybody fishes the same bottom. We take six anglers maximum, target the species you came for, and change the plan on the water. It costs more per head, and the fishing is not comparable.

Something you do not mind getting wet or bloody. Soft-soled shoes or sandals, a long-sleeve sun shirt, a hat and polarized sunglasses. Bring a light jacket in winter, because 70 degrees at 25 knots feels a lot colder than 70 degrees on the beach.

Yes. Call or text Captain Shawn with the trip length you want to give and he will arrange it. A charter is a better gift than most things you can buy in a shop.

We run out of Pompano Beach, between Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton. The reef edge is about ten minutes from the inlet and the blue water is not much further, so on a deep sea fishing trip almost none of your day is spent running. We fish for guests staying in Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point, Hillsboro Beach, Boca Raton, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Delray Beach.
